Economics
at St.Louis Dundalk
Leaving Certificate Economics offers students a practical understanding of how economies operate, both locally and globally. It delves into key topics like supply and demand, taxation, inflation, and global trade, helping students make sense of current affairs and everyday financial decisions.
The course fosters critical thinking, data analysis, and problem-solving skills—valuable assets for further study in business, finance, law, or politics. It also includes a research project 20% of final mark which encourages independent learning and real-world application of economic theory. In St. Louis during fifth year, we participate in the Young Economist of the Year competition as preparation for our sixth-year research project.
With a clear structure and a manageable syllabus, Economics is accessible to students from all backgrounds, even those without prior business studies. It’s an ideal choice for anyone curious about how the world works and eager to become an informed, engaged citizen.
