Guidance Team

Supporting Students at Every Turn

The Guidance team gets to know its students from the outset. Our transition programme with fifth year Cairde group, where first years are in contact with their mentors throughout the summer before they join us, offers an opportunity to get to know them, their personalities, talents, concerns, aptitudes and ambitions.

It’s never too soon to start career planning, and through Guidance in Junior Cycle, we have introduced the Reach plus programme promoting careers and college awareness at an early stage. Our rich tradition of annual Careers Fairs, with a wide variety of Tech Universities, NUI colleges, Post Leaving Cert colleges and Apprenticeship and study abroad options fosters understanding of the exciting range of choice, as do the many other initiatives led by guidance to support them in their decision making. College visits, workshops, parent and guardian career events, themed weeks such as College Awareness Week and Squiggly careers supply a vibrant sense of the world of work and education.  Our multi-agency links reinforce active learning, from STEM passports with Maynooth University, to liaison with a spectrum of expertise on CV preparation, mock interviews and college interview preparation.

We are responsive to the ever evolving needs of our students, and are passionate about helping them navigate the important decisions around subject choice and programmes, and the sometimes confusing array of information in further, higher education and beyond. Through weekly guidance classes and one to one prep for CAO, UCAS and EUNICAS at senior cycle, we endeavour to give all students the care, choice and equity they deserve to make critically informed and empowered decisions to flourish in their chosen pathways. The holistic emphasis of guidance and the counselling service we provide, aims to support all of our students at key points of transition in their unique  journey through second level. Our Life Skills groups and one to one support reflect our investment in student wellbeing. A seven time Trinity School of Distinction award winner, Guidance has been recognised for its breadth and quality of provision. Our Amber Flag ambassadors have brought home their sixth win and we are currently planning steps towards a Compassionate Schools Award. Belonging, inclusion and reciprocal respect are the foundations of all our work.
