Senior Cycle education builds on the Junior Cycle, giving students the opportunity to concentrate on subjects aligned with their interests, abilities and future ambitions.
Most students study seven subjects at Leaving Certificate level over the course of a two year period.
For the Leaving Certificate, students are required to take Irish (unless exempt), English and Mathematics.

St.Louis Secondary School students also will engage in other subjects at a non-exam level such as Religious Education, SPHE and Physical Education.
Assessment in each exam subject varies from project based assessment to oral examinations, in addition to written Leaving Certificate State Examinations in each exam subject at the end of the two years.
