Art
at St.Louis Dundalk
Art in St.Louis Secondary school is a subject whereby creativity is encouraged, celebrated and brought to life through a wide range of artistic experiences. Students are inspired to develop their imagination, confidence and individual style in a vibrant and supportive environment.
Visual Art is offered at Junior Cycle level which encourages students to explore their talents through drawing, painting, design and digital media.
Leaving Certificate Art builds on the skills developed at Junior Cycle, encouraging students to further develop their creativity, techniques, and personal artistic style.
The St. Louis Secondary School Art Department delivers an in-depth study of printmaking, ceramics and graphic design in 5th year. This immersive approach offers each student the opportunity to significantly advance their skills in these areas. Following this, students will then be best placed to make decisions in regards to final mediums for LC practical coursework.
The ‘Art’ course at Senior Cycle includes the study of art history and contemporary artistic practice - this is known as Visual Studies. Students will study; Pre-Christian Ireland, Realism Impressionism & Post Impressionism and Today’s World.
