The school crest strongly reflects the French heritage and core values of the Sisters of St Louis, our founding congregation. The congregation was founded in the aftermath of the French revolution,a time of deep civil division and mis-trust in Europe. The founders looked to Saint Louis, a famously devout Catholic King of France from 1226-1270. The blue colour is the French blue of St Louis. The red hand of ulster and the tower of the town of Monaghan represents the first sisters who travelled from Paris to Monaghan in the 19th Century and who were later invited to open a similar school for girls in Dundalk. The Fleur-de-Lys is another strong symbol of France while the sword and crown of thorns represent the crucifixion of Christ and later crusades by St Louis.
Proud of who and what we represent.
